Big Brothers Big Sisters supports one-to-one friendships between children who need a positive role model with caring adult and High School volunteers.
COMMUNITY-BASED MENTORING: Volunteers are matched with a child to share a variety of mutually enjoyable activities.
In the community-based program, volunteer Bigs provide to their Little Brother or Sister, individualized time and attention, on a regular basis.(typically 2-4 times a month, for 2-3 hours)
This time is filled with conversation and shared activities. Together you develop a relationship that helps your Little manage the every day challenges that are part of growing up. During their time with you, your Little will gain new skills, explore new interests and test behaviors that expand their experience base beyond their family or neighborhood.
SCHOOL BASED MENTORING Programs:
Adult and High School volunteer mentors are matched with children at various schools to work one-on-one or in small groups to help students build academic, social, and life skills.
With our AFTER SCHOOL MENTORING programs, we partner with elementary and middle schools that have a high school or a business located nearby from which we can recruit, screen, and train mentors. The mentors come to the school for at least one hour weekly to work with 1-3 students in a structured setting.
PASS IT ON-OUTDOOR MENTORING: is a great way to share your love and passion for the outdoors with a Little Brother or Sister!
Individuals, or clubs and groups; who see the importance of sharing their skills and knowledge with the next generation, are a perfect fit with our program and strongly supports our mission and vision....PASS IT ON!
Be a Mentor, Be a Friend, Just Be there.
