School Based
Mentoring Program

This program matches high school students or adults with children grades K-8. The goal of the program is to provide these children additional support from a mentor. Whether the child needs help with schoolwork or some extra attention to improve their self-confidence, a Big Brother or Big Sister provides this support thorough a consistent and caring friendship.

Questions frequently asked by parents:

  1. Who are your School Based Big Brothers and Sisters?

The School Based volunteers are adults or high school juniors and seniors. They all have various personalities and interests. What they all share is a desire to help a child by being their friend. All volunteers are carefully screened along with a criminal background check, and personal reference checks. We take the utmost care in professionally matching your child with a positive, responsible role model that can fulfill their school year commitment to the program and your child.

  2. How often would my child see his/her Big, and what would they be doing together?

In this program, volunteer mentors will spend about one hour per week with your child participating in activities such as reading, working on school projects, playing games, participating in recreational sports, as well as developing a friendship. Big Brothers Big Sisters will screen all volunteer mentors.

  3. What if I have other questions….where do I call?

We would be happy to answer any and all of your questions. Please contact us if you would like to talk further about our program!
